Never Leave VS Code: Building Power Platform Solutions with AI

Clicking through the maker portal to add a column, tweak a form, or register a plugin step is quickly becoming a thing of the past. In this session, I'll show how I build almost everything on Dataverse without leaving Visual Studio Code, using Claude Code as my development partner. Tables, forms, views, plugins, Custom APIs, model-driven, canvas and code apps, Power Pages and solution deployment all happen from one place. We'll start with the official Microsoft plugins and skills for Dataverse, Power Pages, model-driven, canvas and code apps: what they do well, and when to reach for each one. Then we'll look at what they don't cover yet, and how to fill those gaps with your own skills and agents. Examples include enforcing your team's naming conventions, scaffolding your standard plugin and Custom API projects, and packaging the know-how you've built up across real customer projects. The best part is that Claude doesn't just write the code, it tests it too. With an MCP server connected to your Dataverse environment, Claude can inspect metadata, query and seed data, and check results. With the browser extension, it opens your app, clicks through forms, reads console errors and fixes what it finds, all before you look at it. The session is built for developers, but functional consultants will find plenty to take away too. Much of this works without writing code: shaping data models, building forms and views, seeding demo data, and checking that a requirement actually works in the app. Expect live demos, practical setup tips and an honest look at where this works and where it doesn't. You'll leave with a workflow you can start using on Monday.
